I wonder what will happen if I ask my students if they have a talisman book … or challenge them to find one by the end of our next semester. Sal, this post is inspiring me AGAIN!

Book-love, we summon you….

I will be immensely glad to think of you in your writing retreat. 😶‍🌫️💕

this is marvelous and calls to mind my own sequence of talisman books - i slept with each of the last two under my pillow for a time… i don’t have one of those now, and you have me wondering why… blessings on you!

Tom, I so want to know exactly what books those are or were. Have you ever written about them?

Yes! It seems like summer has taken over at the moment, but I'd love to do it again. Maybe you have an inspiring work of architecture we could dream on?

Also, this story made me think of you:

Thanks for the intro, Sal. I had no idea about this Simic book, but it sounds wonderful. Exactly the kind of thing I want to read atm. Tracking down a copy right now!
