Dear Friends,
I’m on an every-other-week schedule for my regular posts over the summer. In between, I’m holding our space together with these quick postcards featuring photos of New York by my dear friend, Bobby Duvet.
Last time I wrote in from Provincetown and featured a very noir photograph of the New York subway system. Now I’m back in New York, and here’s a picture of Provincetown’s harbor in the mists.
It feels good to be back in the city, back in the zendo, back in the subway, back in the rhythms of my writing life. As I type, my parakeet is perched on my laptop, pecking at the screen in curiosity. He is endlessly busy and curious, flying from perch to perch, toy to toy, from the laptop to the top of my head. He, too, has been to Provincetown and is back in his city life.
Wherever I find myself, I wish you were here.
— Sal
P.S. Happy 4th if you celebrate. May our country do better.
Tell me what it’s like where you are. I’d love to hear from you.
